Group Description

The Men's Group is an intergenerational experience for Black men interested in building universal bond among men. The Men's Group is a place where Black men can come together, break bread and fellowship around shared experiences.

Black men will have an opportunity to discuss personal issues, family challenges, work experiences, and a host of other topics in a respectful and confidential space. The foundation of the Men’s Group is to challenge the myths and stereotypes associated with men as being unable to communicate effectively and demonstrate emotions.

The group's facilitators will ensure a space that is emotionally safe, and solutions focused and free from judgment. The facilitators bring years of experience managing groups with Black men and the ability to promote self-care, active listening and critical thinking.

This group is inspired by an expressed need for like-minded men to come together, enhance personal growth, build new relationships, and connect through socialization, discussion, and activities. The monthly group is not a therapy session, even though therapeutic benefits may occur for all who attend.

The focus of the group is authenticity, mutual support, networking, and personal development. While the group is informal many times, ice breakers will be introduced along with specific topics related to health, wealth, family, work and a variety of other issues. Groups will begin and end with several essential rituals which are vital to building cultural continuity within the group.
